No objections lodged against Bengwenyama environmental authorisation
JSE- and ASX-listed Southern Palladium advises that the period has ended for affected parties to object to the recently granted environmental authorisation for a mining right and related infrastructural development activities at its Bengwenyama platinum group metals project, in South Africa, and confirms that no objections were launched during this time.
The environmental authorisation was granted by the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) to the company’s 70% subsidiary, Miracle Upon Miracle Investments.
The end of the objection period marks the successful completion of the environmental authorisation approval process, which represents a key milestone for the award of a mining right to develop the Bengwenyama project, the company notes.
Southern Palladium is close to the completion of an optimised prefeasibility study (PFS) at Bengwenyama, it adds.
The updated study proposes a two-stage development pathway with lower upfront capital costs than the earlier PFS.
Details of the PFS are expected to be announced this month, together with a works programme for the delivery of a definitive feasibility study.
